How Much Area Does a Microcement Kit Cover? (Updated 2025)

If you’re planning a new concrete-look surface, the big question is: how far will a kit go? Because walls, floors, worktops and tiled areas use slightly different systems and coat counts, coverage varies a little between them.

At Concrete Lab, all Microcement Kits come in 5 m² and 10 m² sizes and include everything you need for the system: powder & resin, mesh (where required), mesh tape, and sealer.

Understanding Coverage

Kit Type System Coats Typical Total Thickness Coverage per Kit
Wall Kit 2-coat Base + Finish ~1–1.2 mm 5 m² / 10 m²
Floor Kit 2-coat* Base + Finish ~1–1.2 mm 5 m² / 10 m²
Worktop Kit (Indoor) 2-coat Base + Finish ~1–1.2 mm 5 m² / 10 m²
Wall Tile Kit 3-coat Mesh coat + two finish coats ~1.5–2 mm 5 m² / 10 m²
Outdoor Worktop Kit 3-coat Mesh coat + two finish coats ~1.5–2 mm 5 m² / 10 m²

*Floor systems use a fibreglass mesh embedded in a self-levelling compound (purchased separately) before applying the two microcement coats.

Add a Sensible Buffer

Real-world coverage depends on substrate, texture and technique. To avoid running short, measure your area and add a 10–15 % buffer for edges, cut-ins and normal wastage.

Standard surfaces: area × 1.10
Tiled/irregular/edge-heavy: area × 1.15

Enter your area below and we’ll suggest the smallest kit mix (5 m² / 10 m²) that covers your project with your chosen buffer. Buttons take you straight to the product page with the size preselected.

Select your kit, enter the area, and we’ll suggest the smallest mix of 10 m² and 5 m² kits (with buffer).

Tip: Floor systems use a fibreglass mesh embedded in a self-levelling compound (purchased separately) before the two microcement coats.

Tips for Achieving Stated Coverage

  • Prep properly: fill joints, level and prime to reduce absorption and drag.
  • Consistent mixing: follow the specified resin-to-powder ratio.
  • Thin, even coats: heavy application reduces coverage and can cause drying issues.
  • Edges & details: allow extra for corners, reveals, sockets and cut-outs.
  • Work within the window: observe temperature/humidity guidance for best results.
