What can I use as a base to cast the concrete onto?
We recommend moisture resistant MDF or marine plywood for internal applications. For external applications we recommend cement board.
Microcement FAQs
What is the finished thickness of the microcement?
It is approx 1 to 2mm. It is very thin! However do bear in mind that if you want to apply microcement to a rough surface such as an old concrete floor then you will want to get that nice and smooth first with something like a self-levelling compoun, so you don't waste too much microcement going over pits and divots in the substrate surface.
Can I apply microcement to walls?
Yes of course! For standard walls, e.g. brickwork/blockwork/plasterboard, we recommend that this is plastered orr skimmed first to give a nice smooth surface to go over.
Can microcement be applied to wet areas such as showers and wet rooms?
Yes it can. The walls/floors will require a bit more prep though to get them ready to receive the microcement. Send us an email or give us a call for more guidance.
Can I add dyes to microcement to make it a different colour?
Our microcement comes in off-white, light grey, mid grey and dark grey, but you can also add dyes to create your own bespoke colours.
Here is a link to the dyes we sell.
What is a suitable surface to apply the microcement to?
Have a look at our instructions here which give the best substrates to apply the microcement to - Instructions Link.
How much microcement will I need?
Each pack of microcement comes with 2 coats, each coat covering 1,5 or 10 square metres.
We recommend you add 10-15% on top of the area you want to cover so you don't run out of material in the middle of your project.
