Common Questions
Yes — that's exactly who our kits are designed for. Every order includes step-by-step written instructions and access to our full how-to video library. Thousands of first-timers across the UK have achieved professional results with our mixes. If you hit a problem at any stage, our team is available by phone and email. You won't be left stuck.
All three give you a polished concrete finish — they just get there differently. Microcement is applied in thin layers over your existing surface, with no casting or heavy materials involved. Cast-in-place concrete is poured directly where the worktop will live, producing a full-depth slab. GFRC (glass fibre reinforced concrete) precast is cast in a mould off-site and then installed — lightweight, strong, and ideal when you need workshop control. Our Project Calculator can help you choose the right method for your project.
When properly sealed, concrete worktops are easy to clean with warm water and a pH-neutral cleaner. Our sealer makes the surface stain-resistant and waterproof — but like any worktop, you should wipe spills promptly and avoid leaving acidic substances sitting on the surface. Oils, wine and coffee are all fine with quick clean-up. Use a chopping board rather than cutting directly on the surface.
Concrete itself has excellent heat resistance. As with stone, we recommend avoiding placing very hot pans directly onto the surface — sudden extreme temperature changes can stress any worktop material. Using a trivet is good practice. Properly sealed and maintained, a concrete worktop will handle the everyday heat of a busy kitchen with no issues.
Decades, when properly sealed and maintained. Our sealer makes the surface waterproof, heat-resistant and stain-resistant. The sealer itself may need refreshing every couple of years depending on use — this takes less than an hour — but the concrete underneath is extremely durable. Most concrete worktops outlast the kitchens they're installed in.
Professional polished concrete worktops typically cost £500–£1,200 or more per linear metre, installed. DIY microcement material costs start from around £37 per square metre. Cast-in-place and GFRC precast kits are similarly priced. The saving on a standard kitchen is often well into the thousands — for the cost of materials and a weekend's work.
Use our free Project Calculators — enter your worktop dimensions and it gives you an exact materials list, including mix, sealer and any recommended add-ons. If you'd rather talk it through, our team can work out quantities with you over the phone.
Yes — microcement bonds directly to most stable substrates including laminate, quartz, granite, hardwood plywood and cement board. This makes it the fastest route to a concrete look without any removal or heavy construction. The substrate needs to be clean, secure and well-prepared — full prep guidance is included with every kit.
We dispatch on a next-day courier service. Order before 12pm and your kit will typically arrive the following working day. You'll receive a tracking link as soon as it ships. We deliver across the UK and to most European countries — international delivery costs and timescales are shown at checkout.
