Concrete Lab Worktop / Countertop premix is a specially formulated flowable high-strength concrete mix for pre-cast concrete worktop, countertop, table, bar or sink projects.
The mix contains;
- Super-plasticizer additive to provide a flowable mix at low water/cement ratio.
- Our Flowcrete additive.
- Alkali-resistant glass fibres - for strength and to reduce the weight of the finished product
- Contains a premium cement formulation - to the specification we use ourselves in commercial applications
- Specific coarse-graded silica sand
- Metakaolin - a pozzolan to make the concrete more cohesive and less likely to bleed and far superior in strength
This high-flow self-consolidating formula minimizes the need for mechanical vibration.
Our premix system simply requires the addition of water, producing high quality results every time.
The premix comes in 23kg buckets. One bucket will produce a 1 metre length of standard width - 600mm - worktop at 18mm thickness.
One premix = 0.6m2 of concrete at 18mm depth
Calculating quantities for worktops and table tops etc:
To work out how many premixes you need for your project calculate the total surface area of the project in m2 and divide by 0.6 to give you the number of premixes required. Always round up and consider the additional area required for any lip. Note; this is based on 20mm depth.
If you are making small pieces or samples and will probably not use the entire premix, use the handy spreadsheet in the link below to work out how much of each ingredient you need. IMPORTANT - you will need to thoroughly mix the dry contents of the entire bucket to ensure that the premix is fully blended so that when you take batches from it you have an even distribution of the ingredients.

Please note - the Concrete Worktop Premix is NOT SUITABLE for "cast insitu" or "cast-in-place" concrete. It is designed to be poured into moulds where the finished surface is at the base of the mould. Please refer to the Casting Instructions above.
